Welcome to the Theodore Roosevelt High School Vocal Music website! Our department has a rich history of presenting the highest quality of diverse choral music in Iowa. Boasting nearly 60 performances each year, our students in 7 choirs have opportunities to experience professional music in its entirety. We are grateful for the continued support of our sponsors, donors, parents, school, and community members.
Students who choose to participate will perform 1-2 solo or small ensemble songs and receive feedback and masterclass time with educators from around the Des Moines area.
The event begins at 4 PM and a more detailed schedule containing specific performance times will be emailed out prior to the event by Mr. Haley or Mr. Gray
Invited school Vocal Jazz groups from around the state of Iowa come together to compete in an audition-based competition. Da Capo will compete in the 4A division.
Call time for students will be 5:15 PM at TRHS. Da Capo’s performance is scheduled for 8:10 PM.
Admission to the event is $15 (cash and card are both accepted with a $1 fee for card purchases)
Three of our TRHS choirs will perform for adjudicators from around the metro area. Groups will receive written feedback as well as masterclass time with an adjudicator to help improve their performances.

Da Capo will travel to Kansas City Kansas Community College to participate in their annual Jazz Summit where they will receive feedback from and work with nationally recognized vocal jazz educators.
Call time for this event is 8:15 AM at TRHS. Return time is roughly 11:30 PM.
Students should bring their concert black dress clothes but dress comfortably for the bus ride to KCKCC.
3 of our TRHS Choirs (Forte, RiderChor, and Chamber Choir) will perform as a part of Fine Arts Night, bringing together ensembles from the Band, Orchestra, and Choir departments.
The event begins at 5 PM with Orchestra, at 6 PM Band ensembles will follow, and at 7 PM the Choirs perform to conclude the night.
Call time for members of all 3 participating Choirs is 6 PM.
Da Capo will be performing their set as a part of the DCG Take Two Jazz Choir Festival. The group’s performance will start at 4:15 PM with awards afterwards at 5:15 PM. Additional details are below:

Admission is $12 (cash or card accepted).
Select Chamber Choir students will participate in the Central College Honor Choir with students from around the state. The day’s rehearsals will culminate in a concert that evening beginning at 6:00 PM.
